Prof. Moritz Kebschull
Moritz Kebschull is Professor of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Birmingham in England. In addition, Moritz holds an adjunct professorship at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York. Before coming to Birmingham, Moritz was an Associate Professor at the University of Bonn in Germany.
Moritz graduated from the University of Münster in Germany in 2004. He is a board-certified specialist in periodontology and holds two research doctorates in mucosal immunology and periodontology, respectively. In addition to his dental degrees, Moritz also earned a business degree from top-ranked ESCP Business School in Paris.
Moritz’ research focuses on molecular patterns helping to differentiate and stratify periodontal disease patients. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles in the international scientific literature and several textbook chapters. His work won 18 scientific awards, including the IADR Socransky and Gies awards, and the German Miller Prize.
Moritz has served on the executive board of the German Society of Periodontology for six years. He has chaired the development of five S3 guidelines in Germany. Moritz is co-leading the European Federation of Periodontology guideline processes, as well as the adoptions of the supra-national guidelines in the UK and Germany.
Cat Edney
Cat Edney is a multi-award-winning Dental Therapist, educator and global Key Opinion Leader whose work centres on elevating clinical practice through collaborative, evidence-based periodontal and restorative care. With over fifteen years of experience in specialist and private practice, she is recognised for championing the integration of Dental Therapists within multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes, efficiency and clinical confidence.
Cat is the founder of The Modern Therapist, an education platform delivering hands-on training, structured mentorship, and clinical development designed to empower dental professionals to work to their full scope. Her courses influence a growing international audience and are grounded in contemporary concepts of minimally invasive care, communication-led practice, and reproducible clinical excellence.
Alongside her role as Lead KOL for NSK’s MIT framework, Cat serves on faculty for the UK’s largest private dental training organisation and collaborates widely with industry partners to support innovation, product application and clinician education. She contributes regularly to professional publications, appears on international speaking stages, and has been recognised in the Dentistry Top 50 for her influence within the profession.
With postgraduate qualifications in aesthetic and restorative dentistry, as well as coaching, mentoring and dental education, Cat’s mission is clear: to support the global dental community in delivering modern, confident and patient-centred therapy.
