Dr Boota Singh Ubhi BDS, FDS RCS (Edin), MDentSci, MRD RCS (Eng) Specialist in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry After graduating from the University of Liverpool in 1992, I began my career as a general dentist in a mixed dental practice. After 18 months in general practice, I undertook a two-year postgraduate Master’s degree in Periodontology at the University of Liverpool, which I completed in 1997. I was then appointed as a part-time lecturer in the Periodontal Department at Liverpool University, where I taught for three years. In 2000, after obtaining the Membership in Restorative Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, I was entered onto the General Dental Council’s Specialist Register in Periodontics. Between 2003 and 2005, I also taught in the Periodontal Department at the University of Birmingham, contributing to postgraduate training. Since 2000, I have been working at BPI Dental in Birmingham as a Specialist in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry, focusing exclusively on advanced surgical periodontics and implant therapy. Over the years, I have delivered numerous national and international lectures on Periodontology, Implantology, and Bone and Soft Tissue Augmentation. Between 2006 and 2010, I was involved in delivering a ten-day dental implant training programme for general dentists on several occasions. I also served as a Simplant trainer and have provided clinical coaching across multiple implant systems. At present, I run two well-established two-day advanced training courses through BPI Education — one on Soft Tissue Surgery around Dental Implants and another on the Management of Periodontal Diseases. These courses have been running successfully for over five years, with more than 400 delegates attending to date. In addition to my clinical practice and teaching commitments, I continue to contribute to postgraduate education through lectures, workshops, and mentorship — maintaining a strong commitment to evidence-based, biologically guided periodontal and implant therapy.
